Hello Eastern Michigan!
As the newest member of the diocesan staff, I thought I’d introduce myself!
I am a familiar face to many and a not-so-familiar face to some. I grew up in and around the diocese, having been baptized at St. John’s Holly and raised at St. Christopher’s in Grand Blanc. I’ve already had some opportunity to get to know the diocese and its people by serving as a delegate to Diocesan Convention and through my involvement in diocesan youth programs. I served on staff at Camp Chickagami for several years and was heavily involved with Happening, serving as founding team-staff and as Rector.
I just recently moved back from the West side of the state after graduating from Grand Valley State University with a degree in Political Science and Public and Nonprofit Administration. While in school, I interned for the Grand Rapids Children’s Museum and for KSCW, Inc., a lobbying firm in Washington, DC. I also worked for GVSU in their development department.
Okay, so enough about me. What will I be doing for the diocese? I will champion communications efforts to maintain a network between congregations, the diocese, and the outside world. A little more specifically, here’s what I’ll be up to:
- Developing and executing a diocesan communications strategy
- Working with government and other power centers to further the interests of the Diocese and our communities
- Serving as a resource to congregations, clergy, and lay leaders for local communications and public engagement efforts
In the next few months, I’ll be making my way around the diocese to connect with as many people as I can. Please don’t hesitate to invite me to any events, gatherings, or meetings. I’d love to come meet you and maybe even take some photos. In the meantime, like us on Facebook, follow us on Twitter, and even pin with us on Pinterest! I look forward to working with all of you!
