New Fifty Prayers, Karl Barth; Westminster/John Knox Press, Louisville KY; 2008

These prayers of Barth are culled from his sermons and books and focus on pastoral responses to situations. They are roughly divided into prayers for the particular season of the church year. They provide a warm and intimate look at the concerns of this major theologian.

New Praying with the Bible, Philip Law, editor, Westminster/John Knox Press, Louisville KY; 2008

To create this compilation of prayers from the Bible Law has taken actual prayers that are found in the Bible as well as rewording some scripture to make it easier to pray. The prayers are divided into Adoration, Confession, Thanksgiving, Petition, and Intercession. The final group of prayers is short one line pieces of scripture to take the pray-er into contemplation. It is a delightful collection that will bring us deeper into the Bible and more ready to pray what we read.
