ONLINE CREATION CARE SUMMIT

The Creation Care Task Force provides leadership to the Dioceses of Eastern and Western Michigan on issues related to the care, protection, and remediation of God’s creation.

YOU'RE INVITED!

One of the group’s key goals is making environmental stewardship and climate care a significant element of every parish’s internal conversation, from preschool through vestry. We would love to see members of our two dioceses become practicing “environmental evangelists!”

On Saturday, March 11, from 10-11:30 am, the Task Force will offer a special online event, featuring a panel of six parish leaders discussing successful efforts to raise environmental awareness and action in their communities. The panel’s insights will help jumpstart your own Creation Care ministry and provide valuable tips about building parish-wide support for “going green” at church and at home.

Speakers and topics include:

  • Jacqueline Brayman and Jan Strait, St. Andrew’s, Grand Rapids – Book Study
  • Jeanette Ettin, Grace, Port Huron – Community Gardening
  • Amy Freeman, St. Jude’s, Fenton – Composting
  • Kathy Larkin, St. Paul’s, Elk Rapids – Native Plants and Invasive Species
  • Walt Peake, St. Paul’s, Flint – Neighborhood Clean-up
  • Bob Schirmer, Emmanuel, Hastings – Energy Efficiency and Solar Panels

We look forward to sharing our experiences with you, and hope this is the beginning of a broader conversation about how our parishes can work together to become better stewards of God’s creation.
With questions, please contact Katie Forsyth, Canon for Evangelism and Networking, at kforsyth@eastmich.org or kforsyth@edwm.org.
